Austin Cindric wins the Daytona 500

#2-Austin Cindric won the Daytona 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway. The win is his 1st career win in just his 8th start. #23-Wallace finished 2nd followed by #14-Briscoe, #12-Blaney, #10-Almirola, #18-Busch, #34-McDowell, #15-Ragan, #6-Keselowski, and #9-Elliott. Pole sitter #5-Larson finished 32nd and out of the race following a late accident.

The race ended after the first Overtime session, forced by a caution with 6 laps remaining. The race was red flagged with 9 laps remaining after an accident that involved #4-Harvick, #5-Larson, #9-Elliott, #38-Gilliland, #43-Jones, and #62-Gragson. Larson got into the rear of Harvick and there was no place to go for several drivers.

Stage 1 ended under caution after #2-Keselowski pushed #21-Burton, turning him. Burton hit #24-Byron and #18-Busch. Burton’s car got upside down but rolled back over.  #11-Hamlin, #20-Bell, #1-Chastain, and #48-Bowman were also involved. There were 35 lead changes among 13 drivers and 7 cautions for 37 yellow flag laps. The average speed of the race was: 142.295mph.

Perfect Team (per category): Martin Truex Jr, Ryan Blaney, Austin Cindric, Brad Keselowski, Bubba Wallace, Ty Dillon and David Ragan (#15) for a total of 264 points.

Worst Picks (per category): Denny Hamlin, William Byron, Harrison Burton, Kurt Busch, Ross Chastain, Eric Jones & BJ McLeod         

Facts: DAK Racing wins the Daytona 500 ($500) with 221 points. They beat Proven Winners & Team Michigan by 15 points. You have until Wednesday to Challenge the points. A reminder to check your driver teams and the points for the first few races to make sure there are no mistakes. If there is, don’t hesitate to contact me. Also, even though NASCAR shows a 0 beside your driver name, I give the points per position. There is a 0 because they are not running for Cup points.  

Splitsville Race Party: Except for a few sound problems, fun was had by all. Thanks to Tony for fixing the sound problem, Tracy for the Earnhardt mural and everyone that showed for the annual event.
