Busch wins at Talladega

#8-Kyle Busch won the GEICO 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. The win is his 2nd win of the year, 2nd at Talladega and 62nd career win. #12-Blaney finished 2nd followed by #17-Buescher, #14-Briscoe, #6-Keselowski, #43-Jones, #24-Byron, #20-Bell, #99-Suarez, and #36-Gilliland.
Pole winner #11-Hamlin finished 17th.

The race ended following the second overtime attempt. There was an accident with 4 laps remaining in the race to set up the first overtime attempt. During the first attempt, #42-Gragson spun out from the front row. #5-Larson and #41-Preece were also collected. On the final restart, #8-Busch and #12-Blaney restarted on the front row. #23-Wallace took the lead on the final lap but spun out after contact from Blaney, forcing the race to end under caution. There were 57 lead changes among 21 drivers and 8 cautions for 34 yellow flag laps.

• Stage 2 was won by #10-Almirola

Perfect Team (per category): Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell, Kevin Harvick, Austin Cindric, Brad Keselowski, Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Corey LaJoie = 1,811 points

Facts: Bilko wins at Talladega with 211 points ($200). They beat William Peters & Chasing Trophies (tie) by 8 points. KKMT remains the standings leader, 46 points up on Piston Happy. Somebody catch team KKMT. They have been sitting on top the standings for too long now.

Race Penalties: Martinsville penalty for the #3 car. Team penalized 60 points but is under appeal. #31 team won their appeal.
