Logano wins at Nashville
#22-Joey Logano won the Ally 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Nashville Superspeedway. The win is his 1st win of the year, 1st at Nashville and 33rd career win. #71-Zane Smith finished 2nd followed by #45-Tyler Reddick, #41-Ryan Preece, #17-Chris Buescher, #12-Ryan Blaney, #23-Bubba Wallace, #5-Kyle Larson, #31-Daniel Hemric, and #10-Noah Gragson.
The race had a little bit of everything including five overtime finish attempts before #22-Logano took the checkered flag. He led just 9 laps during the race and was able to stretch his last tank of fuel 110 laps. The five overtime attempts are a NASCAR Cup Series record. Pole winner #11-Denny Hamlin finished 12th. He was leading the race when the caution came out with two laps remaining. After more cautions, he had to pit for fuel after the third overtime attempt.
#20-Christopher Bell was the dominant driver for the early part of the race. He won stage 1 and 2 and led 131 laps but got loose with less than 75 laps remaining and spun into the outside wall. He was unable to continue and finished 36th. The race was red flagged for an hour and 21 minutes on lap 137 after some rain and lightning passed through the track. There were 20 lead changes among 11 drivers and 15 cautions for 79 yellow flag laps. The average speed of the race was: 108.298mph.
