Logano wins at Atlanta

#22-Joey Logano won the Quaker State 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The win is his 2nd win of the year, 2nd at Atlanta and 34th career win. The win also locks him into the Round of 12. #12-Ryan Blaney finished 2nd followed by #99-Daniel Suarez, #20-Chrstopher Bell, #48-Alex Bowman, #45-Tyler Reddick, #8-Kyle Busch, #9-Chase Elliott, #24-William Byron, and #2-Austin Cindric.

The race ended under caution during the first overtime attempt. Logano was leading with two laps remaining when #10-Noah Gragson wrecked, bringing out the caution. Logano restarted the race as the leader and didn’t give it up.  The caution came out just before the checked flag flew, when several drivers got together. Pole sitter #34-Michael McDowell led the first 29 laps of the race but finished 34.

Playoff contenders having problems: #5-Kyle Larson wrecked while running second during the first stage. #14-Chase Briscoe was unable to avoid him. They were unable to continue. There were 24 lead changes among 14 drivers and 8 cautions for 44 yellow flag laps.

Facts: Left turn Clyde wins at Atlanta with 249 points ($300). They beat Gasholes by 20 points. Union Thug jumps back into the standings lead, 6 points up on Double Trouble. 78 points separate 1^st from 10^th. It’s the tightest points race in the top 10 ever.

Pole Pool: Anyone with #34-McDowell just earned a pole pool point. 3 teams are tied for the pole pool with 12 points. With 9 races left in the 2024 season, any team with 2 poles or lower is out of contention for the pole pool win. 11 teams have been eliminated.     

Biggest Mover: Left turn Clyde moving from 65^th to 31^st (34 spots)

Biggest Dump:  Coca Cola Kid moving from 148^th to 173^rd (25 spots)
