COBO CUP 2025 Newsletter – Volume 31
Elliott wins at Kansas
#9-Chase Elliott won the Hollywood Casino 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway. The win is his second win of the year, second at Kansas and 21st career win. #11-Denny Hamlin finished 2nd followed by #20-Christopher Bell, pole sitter #19-Chase Briscoe, #23-Bubba Wallace, #5-Kyle Larson, #45-Tyler Reddick, #6-Brad Keselowski, #24-William Byron, and #88-Shane Van Gisbergen
Hamlin was the dominant driver of the race despite late race problems with power steering. He won stages 1 & 2 and also earned the fastest lap bonus. The race ended on the second overtime attempt. Wallace was the leader on the restart and led at the white flag, but he and Bell got together creating an opening for Hamlin to move up. Hamlin then got up the track, forcing Wallace into the wall. Elliott jumped past them to win by .069 second.
There were 20 lead changes among 11 drivers and 9 cautions for 48 yellow flag laps. The average speed of the race was: 123.106mph.
