Hamlin wins at Las Vegas
#11-Denny Hamlin won the South Point 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The win is his sixth win of the year, second at Las Vegas and 60th career win. #5-Kyle Larson finished 2nd followed by #20-Christopher Bell, #19-Chase Elliott, #19-Chase Briscoe, #45-Tyler Reddick, #22-Joey Logano, #48-Alex Bowman, #8-Kyle Busch, #60-Ryan Preece, and #6-Brad Keselowski.
Hamlin started from the pole but just let nine laps. Following a late caution, the team took four tires and he restarted in sixth with 14 laps to go. He moved through he field to take the lead with three laps to go and win by more than a second. Playoff drivers having trouble: #12-Ryan Blaney cut a tire on lap 72 and hit the wall. He could not continue and finished 38th. With 30 laps remaining, #24-William Byron ran into the back of #10-Ty Dillon while Dillon was coming to pit road, tearing up the car. He finished 36th.
The fastest lap bonus a earned by #19-Chase Briscoe.
Stage 1 was won by #24-William Byron. Stage 2 was won by #5-Kyle Larson. There were 21 lead changes among 11 drivers and 5 cautions for 32 yellow flag laps. The average speed of the race was: 137.131mph.
